LAPLACE CLAY BORROW PIT

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, LOUISIANA

Gaea Consultants was hired to provide environmental consulting and permitting services for a proposed clay borrow pit in La Place, St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana in order to fulfill the environmental clearance requirements set forth by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Environmental consulting services required to meet the Corps requirements included:  Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, Wetland Technical Report and Obtaining Jurisdictional Determination, Threatened and Endangered Species Report to be approved by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Coastal Use Permit, and LPDES Permit for Stormwater Runoff.  Gaea was responsible for coordination with the civil/site engineer, property owner, the farmer on the site, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. Gaea performed site visits, documented potential environmental concerns on the property, obtained soil and vegetation samples, researched the environmental history of the site, created the required reports, designed a stormwater pollution prevention plan, and obtained required permits from federal, state, and parish agencies. Gaea’s success resulted in additional work performed on behalf of the private client.
