HERMITAGE BAYOU BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LOUISIANA

Gaea Consultants was responsible for addressing the environmental documentation requirements set forth by the US Coast Guard to obtain a permit for the replacement of the Hermitage Bayou Bridge in Plaquemines Parish.  We performed a site investigation and compiled a final report for approval.  Gaea Consultants coordinated with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to ensure all necessary water quality certification and permits were attained prior to construction of the project.  Additionally, we analyzed possible impacts to floodplains utilizing the Federal Emergency Management Agency Flood Insurance Rate Map.  We contacted the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development to assure that no known historic properties would be affected by the project.  We also looked at possible wetland disturbances, impacts on threatened and endangered species, and compliance with the Clean Air Act, the Noise Control Act, and other federally regulated items.
